American fighter Sage Northcutt may have been away from active competition for quite some time, but he kept himself busy and in shape during his absence.
‘Super’ Sage made this assurance in the lead-up to his long-awaited return to action in ONE Championship’s first-ever live on-ground event in the United States, happening on May 5.
Sage Northcutt will collide with Pakistani martial arts star Ahmed Mujtaba in a lightweight contest at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video in Colorado. It will be the first competition for the Team Alpha Male affiliate in nearly four years after dealing with various medical issues.
While away from competing, Sage Northcutt said once he was up and about, he was active in training and working on his game. He told ONE Championship:

“I’ve been training. I’ve taken care of a few personal things. Everybody knows that COVID stuff threw everything into a loop, especially with a lot of people’s jobs and stuff. That was pretty interesting. But I’m always training, year round, all the time. Always staying in shape and just training a lot.”
‘Super’ Sage made his promotional debut in August 2019, losing to Brazilian Cosmo Alexandre by knockout in the opening round. He suffered multiple facial fractures in the aftermath that kept him on the sidelines for a considerable amount of time as he recovered.
He attempted to make a comeback in 2021 but contracted COVID-19, which scuttled his plans. Northcutt looks to make up for lost time as he battles Ahmed Mujtaba, who himself is not short in motivation, with a third straight win on his mind.
ONE Fight Night 10 will take place at 1stBank Center in Colorado and will be aired live and for free to all North American fans with an active Prime Video subscription.
“Everybody wants a finish” - Sage Northcutt looking to end matters early against Ahmed Mujtaba
American mixed martial arts fighter Sage Northcutt is looking to make it a winning return to action next month and wants it to come by way of an early finish.
‘Super’ takes on Pakistan’s Ahmed Mujtaba in a lightweight encounter at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video on May 5 in Colorado.
It is part of ONE Championship’s first-ever live event in the United States and marks Sage Northcutt's comeback after a four-year hiatus due to various medical issues.
In an interview with the promotion earlier this year, the 26-year-old Team Alpha Male fighter said he is very excited to be back competing and aims for an early finish against the dangerous Ahmed Mujtaba.
Sage Northcutt said:
“Whether it’s a submission, whether it’s ground-and-pound, or it’s a knockout, whatever it is, everybody wants a finish. That would be the ideal way to win, but you know I’m training for any aspect out there, so that way I’m prepared.”
For his much-awaited return, ‘Super’ is hard at training with his team in their Sacramento, California, base, leaving no stone unturned to get the best possible result.
