At ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5, Sage Northcutt is set to make his big return to competition.
After debuting in ONE Championship with a lot of hype around him, his first appearance inside the circle was cut extremely short, losing the fight in the opening 30 seconds.
What was an even bigger setback for Northcutt was the injuries that he suffered as a result of the contest, which have kept him away from the spotlight for a long-time.
As well as some fight cancelations due to COVID-19, Sage Northcutt’s period of inactivity has lasted four years. But he has been raring to go for some time now.

On May 5, he gets the chance to finally showcase to ONE Championship fans what he brings to the table when he takes on Ahmed Mujtaba in Broomfield, Colorado.
After spending so much time waiting on the sidelines, fight night is finally starting to draw nearer. In an interview with The MMA Superfan, ‘Super’ Sage spoke about his preparations:
“Right now, I’m about eight weeks out, so training camp’s getting hit hard. Before the fight, I’ll be leaving by about a week or so to Colorado, getting up there by about a week out. But right now at this very moment, just cracking down on training, doing tons of technique, tons of drilling.”

WATCH: Sage Northcutt exchanges techniques with AEW star Malakai Black
Alongside being deep in preparation for his return to competition after four years away, Sage Northcutt was recently mixing it up on the mats with one of All Elite Wrestling’s biggest stars.
Whilst pro wrestling may be very different to mixed martial arts, it also shares some similarities, especially in its training. AEW’s Malakai Black is one superstar who combines a lot of elements of martial arts into his pro wrestling style and can usually be found mixing it up with MMA fighters.
On Sage Northcutt’s Instagram, he posted a video trading techniques with leader of The House of Black:
“Had a blast meeting up with @aew @malakaiblxck to exchange some techniques! Looking forward to seeing him bust out some of these moves tonight on AEW Dynamite. Full video coming soon! We’re just under 9 weeks out until my return at #ONEFightNight10 in Denver! Can’t wait to put on a show for you guys soon. 👊 🔥 @onechampionship”
