In the main event of ONE Friday Fights 2 at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium, Sangmanee PK.Saenchai has got revenge on his mind.

On January 27, he will face Kulabdam Sor. Jor. Piek Uthai in a rematch nearly three years in the making.

Back in August 2020, the two elite Muay Thai strikers met for the first time at ONE: No Surrender III in Bangkok. With a spot in the finals of the bantamweight Muay Thai tournament on the line, Kulabdam got the better of Sangmanee.

With a first-round knockout, it remains his only loss inside the circle to this day.

In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘The Million Dollar Baby’ spoke about the lessons that he learnt on that night in 2020 and how he will rewrite his own mistakes when they meet each other again:

“For me, this is a good opportunity to get revenge. That loss has been on my mind for a long time. I watched that fight when I was KOed over and over to find out what mistakes I made. I take everything that happened in that fight as a big lesson, and I’ve tried to fix it. In this upcoming fight, I am confident that I am good enough to go against Kulabdam, for sure.”

Revisiting Sangmanee’s comments ahead of his first meeting with Kulabdam in 2020

ONE Friday Fights 2 will feature a main event rematch between Sangmanee PK.Saenchai and Kulabdam Sor. Jor. Piek Uthai.

Before their first fight, ‘The Million Dollar Baby’ spoke about his thoughts on Kulabdam and what his plans were going forward if he was able to defeat him all those years and months ago.

In an interview with ONE Championship ahead of their first meeting, Sangmanee talked at length about his world title aspirations that would have followed if he had been successful.

A loss to Kulabdam stopped him from facing the man he was targeting, Nong-O Gaiyanghadao who competed in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 1 this past week.

Here's what Sangmanee had to say back in July 2020:

“The belt itself is beautiful. I saw when the other [athletes] wore it. There were applause and cheers [from the crowd],”

He added:

“I liked that moment and I want to reach that level, so I am trying to improve my skills to be there. I will improve to be my best and challenge the world champion.”

At ONE Friday Fights 2, not only does he have the opportunity to avenge his loss, he could put himself in a position for a fight with Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, which he was denied by when he lost to Kulabdam.
