Fans have called on UFC CEO Dana White to rescue a Bellator champion from his contract turmoil with the PFL.
Patchy Mix, frustrated by his lack of activity following the PFL’s acquisition of Bellator, took to X to plead for his release. The 20-1 fighter, who has only competed once in 2024, voiced his discontent:
"My manager told me to hold off but haven’t heard anything from [PFL or Donn Davis] If you are not gonna have me fight then just please release me from contract. This is not what I want but if I’m not important to the company being a multi time champ. Then let me go respectfully."

Mix has had an impressive seven-fight winning streak since joining Bellator in 2019, including two bantamweight title defenses. However, his career momentum has stalled, with his most recent fight, a May victory over Magomed Magomedov, serving as his only 2024 appearance.
Patricio Pitbull joins Patchy Mix and others to blast PFL-Bellator merger for neglecting fighters
Despite PFL CEO Peter Murray's promises to increase event attendance, Patchy Mix is not alone in his dissatisfaction. Pitbull, along with Mix and Corey Anderson, has publicly criticized the Bellator-PFL merger, citing mismanagement.
Fighters have expressed concerns about prolonged inactivity, a lack of communication, and the overall management of the promotion's transition.
Pitbull, a three-time Bellator featherweight champion, called the merger a "disaster," accusing the organization of inconsistent scheduling and favoring influencer-driven contracts over established athletes. In a number of social media posts, he wrote:
"They said things didn’t work out with Japan and that it wasn’t their fault. Ok. So why don’t you stage a show somewhere else? What kind of promotion can’t give fighters at least two fights a year? Some haven’t even fought this year! Bellator used to be BIG. Things worked and we always had answers."
"They never just canceled a show and said they had no idea when we would be booked. Even regional promotions have dates set for April of next year already! This merger has been a disaster to the sport of MMA."
"I haven’t fought since February. I wanted to fight 3x this year, but I was told I’d have to wait until December 31st and found out online my opponent would fight someone else. Then they had a replacement, I bring people over, spend more money with the camp and there’s no fight."
