Legendary music producer Scott Storch recently appeared as a guest on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Fans were treated to some interesting and eye-opening industry stories as Storch is one of the most successful and influential producers in the world.
One such interesting story is that of the tragic tale of the late great rapper Earl Simmons, popularly known as DMX. The AMA and Billboard Music Award-winning rapper was widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time, popularizing the aggressive rapping style called "horrorcore".
Aside from being a lyrical genius and talented rapper, DMX was also known for his troubles with drug addiction, which ultimately led to his untimely death in April 2021.

Storch recalled his relationship with DMX:
"Not so long ago, I was heavily involved in a rehab center in California in Studio city where we used cannabis for healing. And it came to my attention that he [DMX] was on his last legs. [DM]X was in bad shape. So I was able to make a meeting happen... We had X come in, he had emphysema. He was one rock away from death."
Storch continued:
"So we convinced him. We put him on a private plane to Washington to do a detox. He went through the whole detox and his plan was to leave the detox and come to our facility, in-patient, and do rehab. He never made it back on the plane to head back. And we never saw him again."

Joe Rogan and Scott Storch talk about geniuses getting addicted to drugs: "Wild people make wild sh*t"
After listening to Scott Storch's harrowing story, Joe Rogan lamented the fact that most geniuses in any field tend to get addicted to hard drugs just to escape the chaos that happens in their lives and inside their heads.
Rogan said (1:04:12):
"Wild people make wild sh*t. And sometimes, you can't control it...The wildest of the wilds all get caught up in that life because you escape yourself."
Storch added:
"But bro, the come down. Coz after a while, like, getting f*cked and going to sleep doesn't work [anymore]. Now you wanna go for two days or three days. The way you feel at the end of that run, it's no good, bro. It's just no good."
Rogan then added that such kinds of lifestyles will have you inches away from death. Bouncing off of what Storch said, when people go on a drug bender for two straight days, they fail to realize that they're "about four days away" from death. It's a sure way to find an untimely death.
