Legendary Grammy-winning record producer Scott Storch made an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast Tuesday and treated listeners to some interesting industry stories.
One such tale was when he met fellow Grammy-winning artist Rihanna, whom he's always wanted to produce a record with. Storch jokingly cited his failure to work with her as a result of his awkward first meeting with her. The producer recalled:
"I had a very uncomfortable meeting with Rihanna and I'm mortified to this day. She was in the VIP in New York years and years ago, and doing her thing and whatever. Obviously, people knew who I am so they didn't front [and] they let me up into her table. It was a greenhouse back in the day."

He continued:
"I introduced myself and whatever and I gave her a hug. And I f*cking got hooked on her hoop earring! [laughs] My clothes got hooked on and I'm like, 'Don't move! Don't move!' I almost ripped her f*cking ear off. That walk out of that VIP room was the most mortified, most embarassing sh*t I ever f*cking felt in my life...You're that guy at that moment [laughs]...So yeah, it haunts me."

Scott Storch tells Joe Rogan why he loves working with new artists
After the Rihanna story, Joe Rogan asked Storch if it's his favorite thing to break new artists in and introduce them to the world. Storch is credited for his notable works with legendary artists such as rap legend and fellow producer Dr. Dre, pop icons Beyonce and Chris Brown, rap and hip-hop star 50 Cent, and many others.
Storch told Joe Rogan (1:56:45):
"You're helping sculpt what somebody's sound is going to be. The backbone of what [and] where they started. Like, creating something new. And I think, to me, my sound has always been to not have a sound. And have like, you know, different genetic strains of music. Like different things that I brought to the table that nobody else was doing...With artists, you get to like, concoct some kind of new vibe with them."
He then recalled moving out of LA after working with Dr. Dre for so many years. He tried to make his own mark without competing with his friend - and so he found Beyonce. Storch and Beyonce created three straight smash-hits, "Baby Boy", "Naughty Girl", and "Me, Myself, and I" - the first one topping the US Billboard Hot 100 for nine consecutive weeks.
