Aljamain Sterling wants Sean O'Malley to brace himself for a title fight on May 6. While the 'Funk Master' is expected to face Henry Cejudo for his next title defense, it appears the bantamweight champion isn't confident about 'Triple C' going through with this fight.

Sterling and Cejudo are rumored to be going head-to-head at UFC 288 in May in Newark, New Jersey. The former two-division champion will return to action after walking away from the sport in May 2020 to challenge for the bantamweight title. However, the lack of clarity around the bout has frustrated many, including 'Sugar.'

While the promotion has officially announced the UFC 288 pay-per-view card, the headliners are yet to be decided or confirmed. Indicating that Cejudo is yet to sign the dotted line, Sterling recently quote-tweeted Sean O'Malley to "be ready" to step in for 'Triple C' and claimed:

"Facts! The turd isn’t making up his mind. Be ready my guy. This is the fight the fans really wanted to see anyway."

Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo have been feuding for a while and recently had an altercation backstage at UFC 285, where they had to be separated by security after their trash talk began heating up. It remains to be seen if their bout will materialize in the octagon at UFC 288.

Sean O'Malley next fight: 'Sugar' threatens to strip Aljamain Sterling of his title

Sean O'Malley is running out of patience and wants the bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo finalized as soon as possible. Growing tired of his title shot being held up, 'Sugar' took to Twitter to post an ultimatum for 'Funk Master.'

The 28-year-old American has previously iterated that he was offered the role of backup fighter for the bantamweight title fight. However, O'Malley stated that he wasn't keen on the idea but would prepare for the fight and decide on fight week.

Sean O'Malley recently threatened Aljamain Sterling by issuing a direct challenge to the bantamweight titleholder to step up and defend his title against Cejudo:

"As the president of the bantamweight division, I demand a contract signed by Aljo by the end of the week or I will strip him from his title and book myself a title fight."

Interestingly, Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo have both called for Sean O'Malley to be prepared in case either fighter decides to pull out.
