UFC bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley's recent statement has potentially opened a door for suspended boxer Ryan Garcia. Both fighters faced suspensions for testing positive for ostarine, a banned performance-enhancing drug.

O'Malley was suspended in 2019 due to trace amounts of ostarine in his system. Following a similar path, Garcia recently received a one-year suspension after reaching a settlement with regulators over his own ostarine-positive tests.

On the latest edition of his podcast, O'Malley revealed new information that could be significant for Garcia's case. He discussed a recent scientific study suggesting the possibility of ostarine transferring through sweat during contact.

“So I got I got suspended a couple of years ago… I remember when that happened, my levels were so low, the scientists were like, It has to be a tainted supplement. So we tested all the supplements that I was taking at the time. There was nothing in there was not any of those supplements… None of us took anything. We all swore on our lives. And I remember asking USADA and UFC Can it be transferred through Sweat? And they said, No, not at this time."

He further added:

"There's no studies. It's never happened. Just recently studies came out. Scientists, athletes. It happened. It happened on someone's like knee band. Someone was sharing their brand. They tested for ostarine and they tested the knee band. But it came back that ostarine and that those kind of tainted supplements can be through sweat exchange.”

Sean O'Malley doubles down on Conor McGregor criticism following Irishsman's dismissive reaction

Following Sean O'Malley's comments suggesting ostarine could transfer through sweat, Conor McGregor seemingly mocked the theory with a laughing emoji.

O'Malley, clearly unhappy with the Irishman's response, fired back on social media. He acknowledged his admiration for McGregor's past achievements but pointed out the Irishman's struggles in recent fights, stating

"Miss the old Conor :( you fell off, bud. Still a fan tho. I actually don’t care, you are 1-4 in your last 5 I’m stills excited to watch. Hope the toe is feeling better"

The back-and-forth didn't stop there. 'Sugar' launched a scathing attack on McGregor's fighting skills, questioning his place in the "greatest of all time" conversation.

O’Malley wrote in another post:

"Conor isn’t in anyone GOAT talk. Entertainment yes, but skills, no. Has a really good left hand. Sh*t Cardio. Weak Jits. Decently athletic. Mentally weak. Drug addict, needs rehab. 1-4 last [in] 5 fights. Still fan tho. Hope toe heals up."

However, O'Malley maintained a sliver of support, stating he's still a fan and wishes 'The Notorious' a speedy recovery from his injury.
