Sean O'Malley recently weighed in on the matchmaking conundrum surrounding the top of the heavyweight division. Tom Aspinall, Alex Pereira and Stipe Miocic are chasing a fight against the reigning undisputed champion, Jon Jones.

As it stands, Jones is expected to face Miocic before the end of 2024, after their bout last year was canceled due to 'Bones' suffering an injury. In his absence, Aspinall has become the interim heavyweight champ and recently defended the belt, knocking out Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 last weekend.

'Poatan' has also expressed an interest in stepping up a division, following his dominance at 205 pounds. The Brazilian has won and defended the light heavyweight belt twice within a year, and is keen on becoming the first fighter to win a title in three different weight classes.

'Suga' discussed the future of the heavyweight division during a recent video on his YouTube channel. In a video in which he reacted to the events of UFC 304, O'Malley shared his thoughts on who should face Jon Jones next.

According to O'Malley, whilst Aspinall is more than deserving of a shot against Jones, Alex Pereira vs. Jon Jones would be the better sell. He said:

"Tom Aspinall vs. Jon Jones, is that the fight that needs to happen?...I think as just for entertainment and fun aspect, the bigger fight would be Jon versus Alex Pereira. I don't know how close that'd be. Alex can knock anyone out and Jon can win that. Jon Jones versus Tom Aspinall is also f*cking interesting."

Sean O'Malley calls out Conor McGregor

Sean O'Malley has taken aim at Conor McGregor and expressed an interest in fighting him.

The two UFC stars had appeared to be friendly with one another, as the Irishman previously congratulated 'Suga' on his bantamweight title win. Their relationship has since soured, however, with McGregor targeting O'Malley on social media in recent weeks.

O'Malley then opted to callout 'The Notorious' in a recent episode of his podcast. According to the 29-year-old, a fight between the two would be massive. He also went on to add that he believes he has the stylistic advantage over McGregor. O'Malley said:

"There's weight classes for a reason. I'm not gonna chirp those guys [at lightweight]. I will chirp Conor [McGregor] because I do believe I can beat Conor in a fight. I'm not just saying that, I think stylistically I could beat Conor in a fight...I wouldn't call out somebody if I didn't think I could beat them in a fight...Conor's 5'7"...He's thick but he's short...Talk sh*t, let's do it."
