Sean Strickland recently extended his support towards Donald Trump's decision to label Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. According to Strickland, the action taken by Trump was necessary because these groups were harming the United States.

Trump's presidential inauguration ceremony was held on Jan. 20 at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. The 78-year-old began his second term as U.S. President after defeating Kamala Harris in last year's elections. Several MMA personalities attended the ceremony, including Dana White, Joe Rogan, Conor McGregor and Jon Jones.

In his inauguration speech, Trump referred to the Mexican drug cartels as enemies of the country and pledged to make significant changes for the country's betterment. In addition, he proclaimed a state of national emergency along the southern border and said that these gangs would be considered international terrorist groups.

Pleased by the announcement, Strickland took to X and backed Trump's decision, writing:

''Designated cartels as foreign terrorist, they have done more damage to America than any brown man in a sand pit....Lets goooo!! Full send!!''

During a press conference earlier this month prior to the inauguration ceremony, Trump vowed to reduce regulations, raise income, and lower taxes. Radio host Alex Jones shared the real estate tycoon's remarks on X. Strickland, who frequently expresses his political opinions on social media, shared his opinion under Jones' clip, writing:

''Cut taxes and government spending..."

Notably, Trump attended UFC 302 last year in Newark, New Jersey, where he witnessed Strickland secure a split-decision win against Paulo Costa. Following his win, the former middleweight champion clicked a selfie with Trump and uploaded it on social media.

Jared Cannonier previews Sean Strickland's title fight against Dricus du Plessis at UFC 312

Sean Strickland will return to octagon at UFC 312 on Feb. 8, where he challenges Dricus du Plessis for the middleweight title.

In a recent interview with Sportskeeda MMA Originals, Jared Cannonier discussed the upcoming title fight, claiming that Strickland can regain the crown if he opts for an aggressive approach.

''I think he’s going to take that momentum that he did more damage and really try to close the deal in their next fight...If he catches Du Plessis off-balance, maybe rushing in, catches him with a nice stiff jab or a counter-slip jab, or slip-whatever, you know how he does his thing, puts him on his heels with his teeps and stuff, and keeps the pressure on, I think Sean can get it done.” [8:40 onwards]
