Sean Strickland recently shared an intense moment on X, describing a potential self-defense situation involving an individual on the street. The former UFC middleweight champion revealed that his partner suggested avoiding the encounter altogether, prompting Strickland to reflect on his instinctive response. He expressed skepticism about the notion of evading danger, shedding light on the mindset he finds difficult to adopt.
Detailing the episode on X, Strickland wrote:
"Got in a potential violent self-defense situation with a crack head and my girl says, 'Well, why didn't you just go a different way to avoid him?' Hmm I've never actually considered "running away from danger." It just seems a little communist... I don't know if I'm capable of that."
Doubling down on his stance, Strickland added:

"It's wild to me that some people choose to live in a state where they're required by law to "run away" I can never live in a state that isn't a stand-your-ground state..... It just seems like something a communist would do "you must run away." What the f*ck?."

Colby Covington targets potential fight against Sean Strickland at middleweight
Colby Covington is contemplating a move to middleweight following the TKO loss to Joaquin Buckley at UFC Tamps. Despite considering a drop to lightweight, Covington dismissed the idea, citing health concerns and the unsustainable nature of extreme weight cuts.
Instead, he finds the middleweight division intriguing and sees potential matchups, including a fight with former champion Sean Strickland. Covington views Strickland as a limited fighter, suggesting an eventual clash could be entertaining.
Speaking about the fight in an interview with Submission Radio, Covington said:
"I mean the Sean Strickland fight's always interesting. He's had his things to say about me in the past. I don't think he's any special... He's got a jab, he's got a front kick but besides that, you shut down those weapons down and he's very limited. He's just a cardio kickboxer essentially so you know I don't think I don't see any threats."
