Sean Strickland recently provided a glimpse into the reality of early fighter pay during a fan interaction on X. The exchange began when Strickland inquired about credit card debt, prompting a fan to respond, "You're also rich."
Strickland went on to share a behind-the-scenes look at his earnings in his first two UFC fights and shed light on the reality of fighter pay. In his debut bout, Strickland claims that he earned a base salary of $12,000, which was reduced after deductions for his management fee, training costs, and taxes. His second fight saw a slight increase in his base salary to $15,000, but once again, management, training fees, and taxes took a significant portion of the earnings.
Reacting to the fan comment on X, Strickland wrote:
"This is a recent development. You know what I made on my first fight in the UFC? 12-12 [$12,000 to show and win].. then 15 per cent to management, training, [and] then taxes..... Second fight? 15-15 [$15,000 to show and win]... taxes management fee, training fee."

Sean Strickland blasts billionaires for the problems in the United States
Sean Strickland strongly criticized Vivek Ramaswamy's recent comments about American culture and its impact on the country’s workforce. Ramaswamy suggested that American culture venerates mediocrity over excellence. According to the American entrepreneur and politician, this has contributed to top tech companies hiring more foreign-born engineers.
Strickland, in response, blasted the influence of billionaires, accusing them of prioritizing profits over people and contributing to the country's struggles. He argued that these corporate practices have devalued wages, ruined the family unit, and created massive wage gaps. He took to X and wrote:
"Billionaires are the problem. You put profits over people and patriotism. I'm not religious but if there ever was a devil he worked through big business... Imported labor, devalued wages, hoarded money. Absolutely ruined the family unit for profit. Massive wage gaps! Parents work 20 hours a day and then say 'Go put your kids in science camp'. You're so out of touch with the reality and struggles of what a family goes through... The level of manipulation and brainwashing that billionaires have infected this country with.... You're the problem!"
