A new boxing rivalry is brewing in the super-middleweight division: Caleb Plant vs Edgar Berlanga. The two young pugilists have been trading barbs both online and in person for a few weeks now and the boxing world is taking notice.

In the recent chapter of the Plant-Berlanga saga, we're treated to quite an incendiary messaging exchange between the two boxing stars. Pretty much Plant and Berlanga just hurling obscenities at each other with enough cussing to fill a Guy Ritchie film script.

Edgar Berlanga explains where his beef with Caleb Plant came from

Two months ago, Edgar Berlanga sat down with undefeated boxing legend Andre Ward and explained how the beef with Caleb Plant started. According to 'The Chosen One', Plant approached him while they were ar the Canelo Alvarez vs Jaime Munguia event earlier this year.

Apparently, Plant was persistent that they set up a fight despite the fact that Berlanga had already signed to fight in a few months. 'Sweet Hands' wasn't taking no for an answer, however, and that's where Berlanga became hostile.

Edgar Berlanga said:

“He just kept going, going. Pressing me. Bro, we New Yorkers, you know. The way I was growing up, I take that as disrespect. You not going to punk me or something. So, that’s when I got aggressive on him.”

He added:

“He just kept going, I was just like, ‘What?’ After this, dude, man, I just started going off on him. And from right there, it was over. I was like, ‘This dude’s no good.'"

Berlanga also revealed that he and Plant sparred at the Mayweather Gym, when 'The Chosen One' was still 18 years old. According to the Brooklyn native, he hurt Plant with a solid body shot that hurt him, prompting the former IBF super-middleweight champion to quit the sparring session.
