If there is one thing Sean O'Malley likes to do, it is bask in the glory of his UFC career. On the first anniversary of his UFC bantamweight title win at UFC 292, O'Malley took the opportunity to remind fans of the biggest win of his career.
O'Malley posted a cage-side view of his knockout win over Aljamain Sterling on Instagram on Aug. 19. 'Sugar' claimed that UFC 292 marked the day he 'introduced the world to Aljo.'

Fans of O'Malley enjoyed the reminiscent post, telling the bantamweight champion that he "sent" Sterling to featherweight. The fight would be Sterling's final bout at 135 pounds, as he would move up a division in his following fight with Calvin Kattar at UFC 300.
One fan commented:
"Sent that man to 145"
With the post coming roughly one month out from his second title defense against Merab Dvalishvili, many fans took the post as a promotion for his next fight. Such fans noted that they were "ready" for another similar performance from the 29-year-old at UFC 306.
The comment read:
"We're ready for another one!"

Sean O'Malley's upcoming title defense
In his matchup with Merab Dvalishvili, Sean O'Malley will finally be facing who many have labeled as the true No. 1 contender of the division. Although O'Malley owns a title defense over Marlon Vera, Dvalishvili has been undefeated since 2018 and was confirmed to be the next challenger by Dana White after his win over Henry Cejudo at UFC 298.
The fight will be the main event of UFC 306: Noche UFC which will be the inaugural fight card held in The Sphere at Las Vegas.
As a close friend of Aljamain Sterling, Dvalishvili enters the matchup with a 4-0 record against fighters who have previously fought 'The Funk Master.'
UFC 306 is scheduled for Sept. 14 with the co-main event featuring Mexican champion Alexa Grasso completing her trilogy with Valentina Shevchenko.
