Undefeated lightweight boxer Shakur Stevenson has been handed a new nickname by Turki Alalshikh, following a meeting between the pair in Saudi Arabia.

Stevenson recently defended his WBC lightweight title and extended his undefeated record (22-0) when he faced Artem Harutyunyan last month. The 27-year-old dominated the bout, showcasing his distance management and striking ability as he cruised to a unanimous decision win.

The bout was also Stevenson's last with the Top Rank promotion, as the American has since stated that he was looking to become a star in the sport and he no longer believed Top Rank was able to make him one.

Shakur Stevenson's new status as a free agent has meant he has been seeking out a new promotion, and a meeting with Saudi Arabia's General of Entertainment Authority has suggested he is close to signing with one.

Turki Alalshikh, who has been credited with putting on the biggest boxing events in recent years, then took to X to confirm he had met with Stevenson and discussed his future.

The 43-year-old revealed that he was so impressed by the WBC lightweight champion, he has opted to give him a brand new in-ring nickname. Alalshikh tweeted:

"Just met with my brother @ShakurStevenson. I have give him the nickname Shakur "Outlaw" Stevenson...I'm waiting for someone to respond to that I'm bad for boxing."

Turki Alalshikh confirms he is no longer interested in booking Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez

Turki Alalshikh recently took to social media to discuss his boxing plans for the future, revealing that he has taken Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez off the table.

The news comes after reports stating Alvarez had been seeking financial security if he were to accept a fight against Crawford. It is believed Alvarez was looking for a guaranteed minimum sum of $200 million.

Alalshikh then appeared to confirm those reports, as he called off any potential bout between the two boxing stars. The 43-year-old instead stated that his focus will be on finding 'Bud' new opponents instead. He tweeted:

"Just wrapped up an important meeting now with my team, planning for the upcoming fights that we will make 2024-2025. I decided to disregard the Canelo fight, as I don't want it anymore. Instead I will be focusing for the US market with bigger fights, especially for the legend [Terence] Crawford."
