Shakur Stevenson vs. Artem Harutyunan is in the books. The event took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on July 6. It featured two title fights among several other interesting matchups. This article recaps the event and explores the full results.
In the main event, WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson attempted the first defense of his title against Artem Harutyunyan. After a dominant run in the super featherweight division, Stevenson won the vacant WBC lightweight title by defeating Edwin De Los Santos in November 2023. Meanwhile, Harutyunyan was coming off a unanimous decision loss against Frank Martin in July 2023.
Both men started on a cautious note given the high stakes and the fight started picking up pace as it progressed. While the champion stung Harutyunyan with a few good combinations in the second and third rounds, he held his own and offered resistance with effective footwork and head movement.
However, Stevenson kept adding to the tally and took a constant lead in the number of strikes landed, and asserted his dominance in the ring. To his credit, Harutyunyan maintained his composure and did not allow the champion to score a landslide win. A combination of these factors resulted in a technical battle that the audience did not seem to enjoy a lot.

After 12 rounds of action, Stevenson walked away with a unanimous decision victory to retain the WBC lightweight title.
In the co-main event, WBC super featherweight champion O'Shaque Foster attempted the third defense of his title against Robson Conceicao. Heading into the fight, Foster had the momentum on his side with a ten-fight unbeaten run. Meanwhile, Conceicao, who had won two of his last six fights, was coming off a TKO victory over Jose Ivan Guardado Ortiz.
Foster took a more patient approach in the fight as Conceicao attempted to assert his control in the ring by pressuring the champion. However, most of Ceonceicao's punches failed to miss the mark. The audience appeared displeased with the relatively inactive fight.
Conceicao picked up pace as the fight progressed but his punches largely failed to meet the mark. Foster appeared to be the more accurate fighter who landed more precise and significant strikes of the fight. However, judges scored the contest in Conceicao's favor and he became the WBC super featherweight champion with a split decision win.
Shakur Stevenson vs. Artem Harutyunyan undercard: Keyshawn Davis defeats Miguel Madueno
25-year-old Keysahwn Davis, who is one of the highly touted rising stars, fought Miguel Madueno on the undercard. Having secured seven of his 11 professional boxing victories by T/KO with several regional titles under the belt, Davis was one of the biggest favorites on the card.
Meanwhile, Madueno was the more experienced boxer and was easily one of the more difficult challenges of the 25-year-old's young boxing career.
Madueno started pressuring Davis backward right from the opening bell and continued to do so for the majority of the fight. However, Davis landed the more powerful shots consistently while evading and blocking most of his opponent's strikes.
While the fight became ugly in the later rounds with several fouls and questionable tactics, Davis maintained a consistent lead over the Mexican and walked away with a unanimous decision win, securing nine of ten rounds on all three judges' scorecards.
Elsewhere, 20-year-old Abdullah Mason outclassed the more experienced Luis Lebron en route to a third-round TKO victory. Lebron struggled with Mason's jab from the early going and absorbed quite a few punishing blows to the body. Things started getting worse for him from the second half of the second round as the 20-year-old knocked him down twice in quick succession.
Lebron survived the onslaught and made it to the third round but the beatdown continued. His corner stopped the fight before the mid-way point of the round as he had no answer to Mason's sustained attack.
Another young prospect and Newark native Keith Colon scored a statement victory in his professional boxing debut on the Stevenson vs. Harutyunyan undercard. Colon finished Hunter Turbyfill in the second round to start his career on a high note.
The only heavyweight contest on the card, Ali Feliz vs. Robinson Perez, was expected to result in a finish. However, Feliz outboxed Perez to score a unanimous decision victory to extend his professional boxing record to 3-0.
