Shannon Ross, DWCS fighter who competed with ruptured appendix, gets finished in under a minute at UFC 284

Kleydson Rodrigues scored a spectacular TKO victory over Shannon Ross in the very first round of their fight at UFC 284. Ross made news earlier this week when he revealed that he fought in Dana White's Contender Series in August 2022 with a ruptured appendix.

Ross claimed ahead of UFC 284 that he experienced stomach aches during the week leading up to his Contender Series bout against Vinicius Salvador. He initially attributed it to hunger induced on by his weight cut. Ross fought against Salvador despite having a ruptured appendix, which he was unaware of at the time. The Australian lost the fight via TKO, but was awarded a UFC contract shortly after the bout.

Unfortunately, Ross's UFC debut did not go according to plan. At UFC 284, Kleydson Rodrigues, a fellow product of Dana White's Contender Series, came out guns blazing and looked determined to get the victory.

With a defined objective to chase the finish, Rodrigues began an onslaught on the feet, giving Shannon Ross no time to settle in and find his rhythm. Rodriguez was on the hunt and caught Ross retreating for as long as the fight lasted. The Brazilian's barrage of punches, knees, and spinning attacks finally forced the referee to step in and call an end to the fight.
