Reigning ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion Mayssa Bastos admits a trilogy against Danielle Kelly is not too high up her list.

The 27-year-old beat the American star for the second time in succession to defend her crown at ONE Fight Night 26. With a desire to test herself against fresh and newer challenges, she's ready to shift her radar onto someone new for her third appearance inside the ONE Circle.

Mayssa Bastos had this to say during the ONE Fight Night 26 post-event press conference when asked about an immediate rubber match with Kelly:

"I don't know. But I would like to fight other people first, then I think she needs to fight and climb back again to deserve to try for the belt."

Given that she's gone 2-0 against the Silver Fox BJJ affiliate, it's easy to understand why.

Kelly may be one of her toughest tests yet, but the possibility of the third contest going Bastos' way is looking more likely, given how their pair of duels have unfolded on submission grappling's grandest stage thus far.

Mayssa Bastos proved that she's the real deal at ONE Fight Night 26

Mayssa Bastos proved that her championship-winning performance in her debut was no fluke at ONE Fight Night 26.

After some doubts about getting her hand raised against Danielle Kelly the last time out, the Art of Jiu-Jitsu Academy star put on a more dominant display inside the Lumpinee Stadium last Friday, December 6.

While she has the coveted 26 pounds of gold tucked away in her suitcase, the nine-time IBJJF world champion was once again put to the test by the former divisional queen.

Kelly pressed for action, looking for a variety of ways to attack from the top and pass Bastos' near-impenetrable guard.

Still, as explosive as Kelly may have been, the ever-confident Bastos more than had her foe's number.

And in the closing seconds of the match, a catch all but guaranteed her first successful ONE atomweight submission grappling world title defense.
