Sandy Ryan doubled down on her take about the odious paint-throwing incident she experienced on September 27 in New York. The 31-year-old English boxer was hit with a can of red paint when she left her hotel room to reach Madison Square Garden, the venue of her WBO welterweight title clash against Mikaela Mayer.
Ryan addressed the issue for the first time after the end of her fight, which she lost via majority decision (97-93, 96-94, 95-95). In an interview with Sky Sports, the former WBO welterweight queen mentioned that the incident unsettled her. Ryan also claimed that the entire incident was planned.
Later, she re-emphasized her words with an X update, along with a hope for the truth to come to light.
"Still trying to come to terms with what happened last night, I know I shouldn't have fought after I was attacked leaving my hotel but I couldn't let them win like that. I was fighting off empty and still felt I won the fight. We have obtained the CCTV and are in contact with the NYPD. Pretty obvious what happened and the truth will be set free shortly. You tried to ruin my career but trust me it's only just begun."

Mikaela Mayer denies involvement in the act of paint-throwing at Sandy Ryan
Sandy Ryan's claims of the incident being planned caused a massive stir-up. But her rival, Mikaela Mayer, denied any association with this act in an interview with Sky Sports.
The current WBO welterweight champ stated that she was surprised by this incident, just like everyone else. Mayer also clarified that none of her teammates were involved in the incident.
"She [Ryan] was very adamant that my team, or someone in my team had set her up and done that, which is completely false."

Mayer refuted Ryan's words about the incident unsettling her. 'Gangsta Barbie' said Ryan should have left everything aside to focus on the fight after the bell rung.
However, she also apologized to her rival and condemned the entire incident. Mayer considered it unacceptable, especially since Ryan was her country's guest.
