Jorge Masvidal disputes judges' scorecards, blames pro-Diaz crowd for loss
Despite a valiant effort, Jorge Masvidal believes the judges and the pro-Diaz crowd in Anaheim ultimately cost him the fight on Saturday night. Masvidal lost a majority decision after a close 10-round battle, with two judges awarding the fight to Diaz while the third saw it as a draw.
Masvidal expressed his frustration at the post-fight press conference, suggesting the judges were swayed by the heavily Diaz-supporting crowd. He pointed to the fight footage he reviewed, arguing that he landed the cleaner and more impactful shots throughout the contest.
In his post-fight presser, 'Gamebred said:
“I definitely know the judges were influenced by the crowd... Because a lot of those shots were landing in the corner. I was just getting my timing, he’d throw three or four shots, it wouldn’t land, and then I throw a good power shot. I’d see that I hurt him, I’d back him up, or he’d start goofing around. Hurt him to the body numerous times. And I think one or two of the judges only gave me two rounds. There’s just no way, you know?” [H/t: MMA Fighting]
