"Understanding the bonus is earned by you know, not only just to finish, but by showing technical superiority, by showing control, by showing things that are above and beyond, heart, determination, things like that. So this is something that I embody on every level."

Heading into ONE Fight Night 26, Leon was considered a potential future world champion in the promotion. At 29 years old, his resume features first-place finishes in the IBJJF World Championship x2, IBJJF Pans Championship x3, IBJJF American Nationals, and AIGA Champions League.

Dante Leon is on track to take over ONE lightweight grappling division

The ONE lightweight submission grappling division is run by American superstar Kade Ruotolo. The 21-year-old plans to focus on his MMA aspirations in 2025, creating an opportunity for grappling contenders to establish a strong presence.

Dante Leon's finish at ONE Fight Night 26 proved he's a legitimate threat to the lightweight grappling throne. Depending on Ruotolo's schedule, Leon might have to secure another win or two before fighting for ONE gold.

Meanwhile, Cole Abate is another top contender to watch in the division. The 20-year-old also made his promotional debut at ONE Fight Night 26, defeating Shinya Aoki by heel hook. Abate made a name for himself outside of the promotion by becoming the youngest ADCC Trials champion of all time

Other contenders to keep an eye on at lightweight are Tommy Langaker, Matheus Gabriel, and more.
