Inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world champion Jackie Buntan looked back fondly at her special training session with Japanese kickboxing legend and ONE Championship newcomer Kana Morimoto in 2021.
Speaking with Beyond Kick, Buntan shared:
"With KANA, the last time she came was quite a while ago. In 2021, she was actually here for a whole fight camp of mine and was able to train with me. It was some of the best training I've had."
The Filipino-American added:

"She's such an awesome person and even better athlete, she really brings a different style and athleticism and talent that opened my eyes to a different level that's out there. I hope you could come back again, KANA, if you're seeing this!"
Buntan is coming off an unforgettable showing against striking icon Anissa Meksen to claim the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world championship via unanimous decision at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug' this past Friday, Nov. 8, inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Meanwhile, 'Krusher Queen' will take on Meksen in her ONE debut under atomweight kickboxing rules at ONE Friday Fights 92 on Dec. 20. The event will also happen inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Jackie Buntan overcome by emotion following monumental victory at ONE 169
Jackie Buntan could not hold back her tears after winning her first ONE world championship at ONE 169.
An emotional Buntan told ONE fighter-turned-commentator Mitch Chilson during the in-circle post-fight interview:
"I'm lost for words. I've been training since I was 11. I'm 27 now and I've been dreaming about this and hoping about it. It just feels surreal that it's actually in my arms right now."
