Jarred Brooks had one goal when he entered ONE Championship and that was to reach the top of the strawweight division. He believes that he's the best in the weight class and his performances inside the Circle have gone a long way to prove that.
His winning streak led to a title shot against Joshua Pacio in 2022 where at the end of five rounds, Brooks was crowned as the new champion.
Unfortunately, his title reign didn't last too long after what played out in the rematch with Pacio earlier this year.
Brooks wasn't beaten for the title he was disqualified after spiking Pacio on his head early in the contest which led to him losing his title.

Ahead of his return at ONE Fight Night 24, the former champion spoke about how this impacted his mentality during a recent interview with FightWave:
"Yes, I mean, in life, I've already had an ego-death. I think 'The Monkey God' had an ego-death, and the best way to do that was in Qatar."
Brooks continued, adding how he's come to terms with this setback and now hopes to put it behind him:
"I just go ahead and prove it and show everybody like I do every time. But some things just don't work out."

Jarred Brooks is out for redemption
The best way to put this behind him is for Jarred Brooks to get back to winning ways under the ONE Championship banner. In the main event on August 2, he will look to get his hands on strawweight gold once again when he faces Gustavo Balart for the interim title.
Brooks knows how important this fight could be for him and he's not overlooking this test that awaits him at Lumpinee Stadium. 'The Monkey God' may have taken a hit but rolling with the punches is something he's used to.
ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
