Absorbing a loss is always devastating for fighters of any level. And high-level ONE Muay Thai athlete Johan Ghazali experienced the heartbreak last Friday, June 7, at ONE 167.
'Jojo' felt the bitter taste of defeat for the first time in his ONE Championship career when he fell via unanimous decision to the ever-dangerous Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat after a strong effort.
In a video posted to ONE Championship's Instagram, Ghazali addressed his loss to 'No.1' and said:
"In life, sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. I'm sorry to all the Malaysian fans. I couldn't bring back the win. I will just improve on whatever I need to improve. Thanks for your support. Love you guys."

Early in the fight, Ghazali fought just like how he did in his previous outings as he tried to overwhelm Nguyen with a tidal wave of offense. However, the 35-year-old relied on his veteran fight IQ to avoid getting into an all-out firefight.
Nguyen's crisp striking and quick counters had Ghazali visibly frustrated midway through the contest. Despite his attempts at goading Nguyen into standing toe-to-toe, the Vietnamese star did not give him the pleasure of doing so.
Johan Ghazali promises to bounce back even stronger
With ONE 167 now in the rear-view mirror for Ghazali, how he responds to his first defeat will be of utmost importance, and the Rentap Muay Thai Gym product is ready to get back to work.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Johan Ghazali said:
"I've lost before. I've lost in life. Losing is a part of life. Don't judge me on my wins. Judge me on how I come back from my losses."
