Stamp Fairtex is undeniably one of the best strikers in all of ONE Championship, but the dance-happy fan favorite recognizes that in order to become a world champion in 2023, she’ll need to up her grappling game to hang with ONE women’s atomweight world champion Angela Lee. In an interview with ONE Championship, Stamp discussed a potential rematch with Lee:

“For sure, I will improve my ground game more and more, with the hope of challenging Angela Lee again.”

After running through the competition during the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix in 2021, Stamp Fairtex earned herself an opportunity to challenge Lee at the promotion’s 10th-anniversary showcase ONE X. It was Stamp’s toughest challenge to date, but the Thai star nearly pulled off the upset, catching Lee with a brutal body blow in the opening round.

Stamp had Lee on the ropes in the early going, but in true Lee family fashion, ‘Unstoppable’ was able to recover, making it out of the first round. In the second round, Lee was able to impose her will on the ground, sinking into a rear-naked choke to retain her title and lock in her eighth career submission victory.

Stamp Fairtex will be back in action on Jan. 13 as she takes part in the first-ever women’s mixed-rules bout at ONE on Prime Video 6, but as the reigning No. 1 ranked atomweight contender, it’s just a matter of time before Stamp and Lee cross paths once again.

Stamp Fairtex is confident she can knock out Angela Lee

Still upset that she wasn’t able to capitalize on the near knockout of Angela Lee in their March meeting, Stamp Fairtex is confident that she will be able to crack the code in a potential rematch and put Lee to sleep.

“I felt really bad [that I didn’t get the knockout]. I knew she was scared of the body shots, so that’s what I went after. After fighting her the first time, I know that if I fought her again, I can knock her out and I can win. Because I know how she fights now, I’ve experienced it."

Earning her purple belt over the summer, Stamp has been dedicating her time to making gains in grappling while keeping her hands sharp, making her a threat no matter where the fight goes.

“I need to train my Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills more, for sure. And I should be more careful in the next one.”
