Stamp Fairtex looks back on intense battle with Angela Lee

Stamp Fairtex is happy to have had the experience of facing atomweight queen Angela Lee in 2022.

Stamp successfully made the transition from Muay Thai and kickboxing to mixed martial arts in 2021, winning the ONE Women's Atomweight World Grand Prix tournament with a shocking second-round submission of ‘Indian Tigress’ Ritu Phogat in the tournament final. The victory earned Stamp the coveted silver belt of the World Grand Prix and a date with ‘Unstoppable.'

Squaring off at the promotion’s 10-year anniversary showcase ONE X in March, Stamp Fairtex nearly shocked the world when she landed a vicious body shot in the opening round that had Lee reeling.

Stamp was unable to finish Lee, though, and the atomweight queen was able to recover and scored the eighth submission of her illustrious career in the second round.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Stamp discussed her bout with Lee, revealing that she has no regrets about the fight despite coming up short:

“My life has been pretty cool this year. First thing first, I had a big chance to face Angela Lee for the World Title. Although I lost, I didn’t regret sharing the circle with her. I learned a great lesson from that fight. It was a big, good test for me.”

Stamp returns to the circle in 2023 to make history once again as she faces Muay Thai standout Anissa Meksen in the first-ever women’s mixed-rules bout at ONE on Prime Video 6 on January 13.

Stamp Fairtex responds to a call out from close friend Denice Zamboanga

The women’s atomweight division is arguably the most competitive division in all of ONE Championship. With a slew of world-class talent, every woman is looking to break into the top five with a big win over a ranked contender. The No.1-ranked contender just happens to be Stamp Fairtex.

As a result, many women in the division are taking aim at her, including Stamp’s close friend Denice Zamboanga. Scoring a win over ‘MMA Sister’ Lin Heqin at ONE on Prime Video 5, Zamboanga immediately called for a fight with Stamp:

“I have interest in taking the No.1 rank, which belongs to my very close friend Stamp Fairtex. If I beat her, I can challenge the champion."

It didn’t take long for Stamp Fairtex to respond to Zamboanga’s call out. Instead of accepting the challenge, Stamp insisted that Zamboanga should get a win over Ham Seo Hee before challenging her:

“Tell her to beat Seo Hee Ham first, she lost to her twice. Beat her first and then let’s talk.”

Zamboanga faced Ham Seo Hee in back-to-back fights between 2021 and 2022. She came up short in both meetings, losing the first via split decision and the rematch by unanimous decision.
