Stamp Fairtex was very impressed with Tiffany Teo’s drop from strawweight to atomweight in her last appearance.

Knowing a thing or two about the struggles of making the atomweight limit, Stamp Fairtex commended ‘No Chill’ for successfully dropping weight in her last outing. A mainstay at strawweight, Teo decided to try her hand at atomweight at ONE 161 in September. Teo made a successful cut and looked fantastic inside the circle, capturing a win over ‘The Indian Tigress’ Ritu Phogat via first-round submission.

The victory quickly moved Teo into the No. 5 spot in the atomweight rankings and signaled the rise of a new contender gunning for atomweight queen Angela Lee’s world championship. In an interview with Calf Kick Sports, Stamp Fairtex shared her thoughts on Teo’s efforts, saying:

“She’s a good fighter, and she did a really great job in losing her weight. Her weight was 56 kg, and she quickly lost her weight to 52 kg, and now her ranking is fifth. She’s also a very dangerous fighter.”

Tiffany Teo has amassed an impressive 11-2 record in her career with her only two losses coming against ONE women’s strawweight world champion Xiong Jing Nan. Falling short of unseating Xiong on two separate occasions, a change of scenery appears to be just what the doctor ordered for Teo’s world title aspirations.

Tiffany Teo believes Angela Lee rely on grappling game in potential meeting

After her impressive win over Ritu Phogat in September, Tiffany Teo already has a potential meeting with ONE women’s atomweight world champion Angela Lee on her mind. Speaking to ONE Championship, Teo believes Lee will fall back on her grappling game once she gets a taste of her stand-up game.

“Definitely grappling would be her biggest strength. But like I said in my previous fight, most of the time for specialists, their biggest strengths becomes their weakness. Because they are comfortable with that, it kind of hinders them from developing other skill sets. That’s why they always fall back to it.”

While Tiffany Teo respects the ground game of Lee, ‘No Chill’ believe that could also be her downfall in a potential scrap.

“She might prove me wrong, but judging from all her fights, it’s mostly just her trying to get the match to the ground. She tries to strike a little bit, but she’s no striking genius, for sure. I think her ground game is her strength but that’s also something we can exploit.”
