Denice Zamboanga was on the precipice of a world title shot in ONE Championship, but unfortunately, she sustained an injury before she could make at ONE Fight Night 25.

The Filipino star was supposed to face Alyona Rassohyna for the ONE interim women's atomweight MMA world title on Oct. 4 at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.

A few months before the match, Zamboanga re-aggravated a persisting hamstring injury that forced her to pull out of the card.

Zamboanga, nonetheless, was distraught with the development but found solace in the words of her close friend and reigning ONE women's atomweight MMA world champion Stamp Fairtex.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Stamp expressed her sympathies for her former training partner and wished Zamboanga a speedy recovery from the injury.

She said:

"I'm sorry to hear about Denice's injury. I was really excited about Denice's fight with Alyona. It was a highly anticipated match. I heard that she will need to rest for 1-2 months before she can return to training. I hope she recovers quickly and can get back to training soon. Wishing you a speedy recovery, my friend!"

Coincidentally, Stamp was supposed to defend her world title against Denice Zamboanga at ONE 167 this past June but she had to pull out of their fight due to a meniscus tear in her left knee.

Stamp suffered the injury during her training camp in preparation for her fight against Zamboanga in Bangkok. She's now undergoing physical therapy to repair her injured knee.

ONE Fight Night 25, just like all of ONE Championship's Amazon cards, is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.

Denice Zamboanga says she wouldn't risk fighting with an injury against Alyona Rassohyna

Denice Zamboanga would've forced herself to fight through injury, but better judgment told her otherwise.

Zamboanga admitted in an interview with the MMA Superfan that she wanted to fight Alyona Rassohyna despite the injured hamstring, but ultimately decided that pulling out of the fight would be better for her career.

She said:

"Yeah, I don't want to fight and regret it in the future. I want to be at a hundred percent when I fight."
