Flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo will face interim champ Brandon Moreno for a record fourth time in 2023's first UFC pay-per-view event. UFC 283 will see the promotion return to Brazil for the first time in more than three years.
The event will take place on January 21 at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The tetralogy bout between 'Deus da Guerra' and 'The Assassin Baby' will serve as the co-headliner bout of the card. Former light heavyweight champion and No.2-ranked LHW Glover Teixeira will take on surging No.7-ranked contender Jamahal Hill for the marquee event of the night.
In the tetralogy fight between Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo, the 125-pound champion will create history by becoming the first person in UFC history to face the same opponent four times in a row.
MMA journalist Mike Bohn also put out a tweet pointing out the fact, which read:

"Deiveson Figueiredo will be the first [person] in history to fight the same UFC opponent [four] straight times when he meets Brandon Moreno again at UFC 283. Stipe Miocic is the only other person with three straight bouts versus the same foe as he did with Daniel Cormier."

Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno: Which flyweight will reign supreme?
Deiveson Figueiredo is one of the most feared fighters in the flyweight division. 'Deus da Guerra' has secured nine knockouts and eight submission victories in his career.
His back-to-back wins against then-top flyweight Joseph Benavidez cemented his status as one of the scariest fighters in the flyweight division.
But Brandon Moreno is no pushover, either. 'The Assassin Baby' remains the only fighter to have finished Figueiredo in a fight. When they met for their rematch at UFC 263, a supremely confident Moreno stood toe-to-toe with Figueiredo before engaging in grappling exchanges and finding a rear-naked choke finish in the third round.

Brandon Moreno also became the first UFC champion from Mexico after his win over 'Deus da Guerra'. In their third outing, Figueiredo pulled off a razor-thin unanimous decision victory to reclaim the flyweight title.
In the lead-up to the upcoming fight, Figueiredo has been training extensively with Henry Cejudo, fine-tuning his wrestling and grappling skills.
Moreno might be at a slight disadvantage coming into the fight. He won't have coach James Krause of Glory MMA in his corner as a result of the latter's alleged involvement in a betting scandal.
'The Assassin Baby' purportedly switches between Xtreme Couture in Vegas and Fortis MMA in Dallas to keep himself battle-ready. However, the interim flyweight champion said that the game plan was already set in stone before the controversy swept away his coach James Kraus.
