John Lineker vs. Fabricio Andrade 2 lived up to its high expectations, with bantamweight contender Stephen Loman believing that the rematch was even better than the first fight.

At ONE Fight Night 7 on February 24, the two Brazilians finally brought their rivalry to a close after their 2022 meeting ended in a no contest. That fight was a far more one-sided affair, but John Lineker clearly made some great adjustments for the rematch and made it a more competitive contest.

With Fabricio Andrade having his hand raised as the new bantamweight world champion after Lineker’s corner waved the fight off before the fifth round, Stephen Loman was watching closely.

As the clear contender next in line for a shot at the newly crowned world champion, Loman was impressed by the display that both men put on inside the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

In an interview with The MMA Superfan, he said:

“John was also throwing his hooks, that’s why this rematch was such a great fight, unlike their first fight where there was a bit of distance between them. In this second fight, I saw Fabricio’s performance was pretty awesome because he maintained this forward pressure and he had so many combinations.”

Stephen Loman admits he didn’t watch Fabricio Andrade’s TKO of John Lineker live: “I caught the replay”

Following the events of ONE Fight Night 7, Stephen Loman admitted that he didn’t watch the bantamweight world championship fight live.

The Team Lakay fighter has produced an unbeaten run since signing with ONE Championship. His latest victory against former world champion Bibiano Fernandes at ONE on Prime Video 4 has made him a strong contender for a world title match.

However, he needed an undisputed champion to be crowned first between Fabricio Andrade and John Lineker.

Whilst he did tune into the event on February 24, Stephen Loman soon found himself motivated by the performance of his teammate Danny Kingad and decided to go for a run.

Kingad produced an impressive performance against Eko Roni Saputra that led to Loman needing to catch back up with the headline fight on replay. In the same interview, ‘The Sniper’ said:

“After I watched Danny [Kingad’s] fight and victory, I was pumped. So I told myself that I would go for a jog for a while and come back to watch the main event.”

Loman went on to say that he ended up missing the actual fight but still made it back in time to see who he will be facing next time he steps inside the circle:

“But I didn’t make it in time. The only thing I caught was the announcement of the winner, but I was still pumped because I saw that Andrade won.”
