Filipino bantamweight contender Stephen Loman is getting ready for a potential showdown against newly minted ONE bantamweight world champion Fabricio Andrade, even looking for takeaways from the Brazilian’s recent world championship match.
A possible clash between the two warriors loomed even more after Andrade challenged 'The Sniper' to get the world title from him, immediately after defeating John Lineker for the bantamweight gold last month at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video. The Team Lakay fighter said that he is willing to battle for the world title if the fight is formally set by the promotion.
Stephen Loman stated that he was impressed with how 'Wonder Boy' claimed the world title via technical knockout, but added that the fight also gave him an idea on how to deal with Andrade when they face off.
The Filipino contender told The MMA Superfan in an interview:

"John Lineker provided the blueprint to beating Fabricio Andrade. We saw in that fight what Andrade’s weakness is. A bit of pressure and control, and then maybe I can get a submission. He better be ready to go to the ground with me.”

Andrade took on Lineker twice for the vacant ONE bantamweight world title with their first encounter ending in a no-contest. On both occasions, however, he had trouble handling the ground game of the former world champion.
Stephen Loman is now working to further improve his ground game with his team, even having some sessions with Japanese legend Shinya Aoki earlier this year.
Stephen Loman congratulates Fabricio Andrade on a stellar performance against John Lineker
While they may be opponents down the line, the No.2-ranked bantamweight contender Stephen Loman still took time to congratulate Brazil's Fabricio Andrade after he recently claimed the vacant bantamweight strap.
'Wonder Boy' Fabricio Andrade defeated John 'Hands of Stone' Lineker in their world title showdown at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video in February, winning by technical knockout (corner stoppage) in the fourth round to be crowned as the new bantamweight king.
Stephen Loman was an interested observer of the match as he was widely considered to be the next opponent of the eventual winner.
The Team Lakay representative shared with The MMA Superfan that he was impressed with what went down during the fight and congratulated Andrade:
“His striking combinations were pretty good and he always caught Lineker with the knees, especially the knees. And John couldn’t make it to the fifth round that’s why Fabricio took the win. It was a very good fight. I have to congratulate Fabricio because he won the fight.”
Stephen Loman has been unstoppable since making his ONE debut in December 2021, winning all three of his fights to date. His most recent win was over former bantamweight king Bibiano Fernandes by unanimous decision in November.
His impressive run has thrust him into the No.2 contender position in the division.
