In the main event of ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video, 'Wonder Boy' Fabricio Andrade was hammering 'Hands of Stone' John Lineker with punches and kicks. In between rounds, Lineker's corner stopped the contest, thus crowning Andrade as the new ONE bantamweight world champion.
Having a corner stop a match is a way to protect the athlete from taking further damage. Fighters are notoriously tough and often too brave for their own safety. With that said, sometimes a corner has to step in.
Even one of the biggest fights of the past century, Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier III, ended due to a corner stoppage.

However, highly skilled Filipino Stephen Loman does not like it.
While speaking in an interview with The MMA Superfan, the No.2-ranked bantamweight contender said he wouldn’t want a fight of his to end in the corner:
"If I was in a similar spot, I would do my best to finish the fight. Because chances to compete for the world title don’t come often. Whatever happens, I’ll find a way to end the fight impressively. I would go back to my corner and tell my coaches to let me finish the fight on my own terms."
