Stephen Loman has received advice from teammate Kevin Belingon for his upcoming matchup against Bibiano Fernandes.
Loman has an opportunity to expand his ONE Championship record to 3-0 against the former champion Fernandes at ONE on Prime Video 4. ‘The Sniper’ seems to have an advantage considering his Team Lakay teammate, Belingon, fought the Brazilian four times. During an interview with The MMA Super-Fan, the No.5-ranked bantamweight had this to say:
“I watched their previous fights, and I did get some tips on how to fight Bibiano and what his strengths are, which is wrestling and grappling. I also asked Kuya Kevin for advice on the areas Bibiano has an advantage in. He also told me what Bibiano’s weaknesses are, and I just absorb what he tells me and learn from the advice he’s given me.”
Loman having Belingon as a training partner could be a difference-maker. Meanwhile, Fernandes lost the ONE bantamweight world title in his last fight against John Lineker, and he’s looking to turn things around quickly with a win over a ranked opponent.

Stephen Loman details the benefit of having other active fighters at Team Lakay
Stephen Loman trains out of Team Lakay, which features Kevin Belingon, Joshua Pacio, Eduard Folayang, and Edward Kelly. Therefore, high-level training partners are always available. During the same interview, Loman said this about the current atmosphere at Team Lakay:
“The gym’s incredibly busy right now. Almost everyone has a fight coming up and we’re all pushing each other to become fighters. We don’t just train, but we also exchange ideas with each other and study our opponents.”
He added:
"We watch our opponents’ previous matches and see what their strengths and weaknesses are. After watching tape, then we train and simulate fights. We’ll see how to counteract our opponents’ specialties, if you will, so that we’ll be prepared for whatever they throw at us.”
Team Lakay has produced a handful of ONE Championship world champions. Loman, 27, could be the next to claim gold as he prepares for a potential war against Bibiano Fernandes. ‘The Sniper’ could make a massive statement at ONE on Prime Video 4 if he takes out Fernandes inside the distance.
