The unanimous decision victory of Reece McLaren over Jarred Brooks from their flyweight battle at ONE Fight Night 26 last Friday evening inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, was one of the biggest triumphs in his pro career.

McLaren pulled off one of his classic showmanship moves, and ONE Championship published it on their Instagram account with the caption:

"There it goes ✈️ @reecelightning91"

This win by 'Lightning' was even more impressive because his coach, Miles Muecke (@milesmuecke), revealed that he was dealing with an injury during the match, as he commented on the video:

"I'll say it because he won't - @reecelightning91 accepted this fight with 4 weeks and his hand was in a cast for 3 of those because he had a broken thumb. Still accepted against a world champ without hesitation. A lot to work around in a camp against world class wrestler. Still got it done. Give him notice for the title shot @onechampionship let's line this thing up already! 🔥🔥🔥"

Reece McLaren reveals another injury during fight with Jarred Brooks at ONE Fight Night 26

The CMBT Training Centre representative confirmed the thumb injury he had during his fight with the reigning ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion, and he also added that there's another injury he suffered during camp.

McLaren stated this during a recent Instagram post as he wrote:

"Where do I start. 6 weeks ago I fractured my thumb. A week later we got a fight call-up. How could we say no? Short notice heavy 😬 and one-handed. (Only sparred once with my right the week before we flew out). Firstly massive thank you @the_monkeygod you're the man. King of the straw eights for a reason. This is just the beginning ⚡️💛⚡️ and of course, the boss @yodchatri [ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong] thank you for hosting us in the beautiful city of Bangkok!"
