'Super excited' Gilbert Nakatani looking to use ONE platform to inspire others: "You can really achieve what you want in life"

Gilbert Nakatani hopes to inspire others through his accomplishments, which drives him to be the best he can be.

The 31-year-old is just days away from the biggest opportunity of his career when he makes his ONE Championship debut.

With a record of 8-1, he's already accumulated some high-level experience and success in his career.

However, if he were to secure a debut win at ONE Fight Night 26 on December 6, it could instantly change the trajectory of his career.

At Lumpinee Stadium, he will look to announce himself on the global stage when he takes on flyweight staple, Yuya Wakamatsu.

Nakatani always knew that he would receive enormous opportunities like this if he could stay on track, but there's a big difference between thinking something will happen and it being right in front of you.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, he spoke about his motivation for this fight. He said:

"I wanted to travel the world and show anybody who needed the inspiration, the youth, or any of my friends or family, you can really achieved what you want in life through hard work and dedication. I was super excited."

By drawing an opponent like Wakamatsu, he can prove that he's arrived with a point to prove even if this will be a tough test for him.

Wakamatsu, or 'Little Piranha', is an eleven-fight veteran under the ONE banner, and during his time with the promotion, he's faced some of the best.
