Superbon fights for the Thai fans, not for world titles

Superbon Singha Mawynn isn't just fighting for the shiny belts, he steps into the ONE circle with the purpose of bringing glory to his home nation. The 32-year-old athlete is proudly from Thailand.

The Thai-born athlete will be fighting at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video on January 13 in Bangkok, Thailand's Impact Arena. The fight card will be live and free to watch for North American fans with a Prime Video subscription. While Superbon is looking to defend his ONE kickboxing featherweight world title, he is fighting for a greater purpose.

In an interview with Nicolas Atkin of SCMP MMA, the Thai-born world champion explained his purpose in combat sports:

"For me, I’m more preparing because I’m fighting in Thailand, in Bangkok, in my home. When my people come, I don’t want to make them disappointed, I want to make them proud."

Having the support of his home nation is more important to Superbon than the world title:

"This means a lot in my life because all my life I got to be a fighter [in this] sport. I came here and I got a lot of support from the Thai people and people around the world. That means a lot to me. That means more [to me] than the belt."

Superbon says fans can't miss this one

In the main event of ONE Fight Night 6, the Thai-born world champion will fight Chingiz Allazov. Last year, 'Chinga' captured the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix championship.

“Both Chingiz and I are in the top form. This fight will be super exciting. He wants my belt and I want to beat every contender in the ranking. It’s now or never for me and Chingiz. If we miss this chance; I don’t know when we will have a chance to fight again. I would say that this fight is the fight every kickboxing fan must watch.”
