Nong-O Hama returns to action for a second time this year to defend his Muay Thai belt against UK superstar ‘The General’ Jonathan Haggerty. The explosive headliner will take place in Singapore on Friday, April 4 at ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video.
Coming off of a spectacular TKO win against Alaverdi Ramazanov in January, Nong-O Hama is confident Haggerty will not be able to take his belt from him.
‘Hitman’ Liam Harrison, for instance, one of the most experienced, feared, and decorated Muay Thai fighters to come out of the UK, succumbed to the champion's devastating power before getting a chance to find his rhythm. So if Haggerty doesn’t come prepared for war, then it’s going to be an ugly night for him.
Fans react to future war between Nong-O Hama vs. Jonathan Haggerty
Fans were surprised to hear the news that Nong-O Hama and Jonathan Haggerty were pitted against each other for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title.
Many believe Haggerty hasn’t earned the No. 1 spot yet since he just joined the division early last year. In his defense, the British fighter had only one bout at a heavier weight class against Russia’s Vladimir Kuzmin, and even then, he had trouble adjusting to the power and speed of his heavier opponent.
However, a lot can change in four months. Still, the majority of the fans aren’t convinced. Here’s what they had to say about their future matchup:
“I like watching Haggerty but I don’t think this match will be balanced at all. Different levels completely, Nong-O will ruin him.
“I'm not disrespecting Haggerty, I like him and always look forward to his fights. But I think Nong-O wins this fight easily. Haggerty won't be raking his power. I can see Nong-O amaking short work of Haggerty like he did Harrison.”
Another fan added:
“Haggerty’s only just moved up the weight class, he hasn’t even gone through Ramazanov, Rodlek or anyone else at the top of the division and is going straight to face Nong-O The Goat. He couldn’t take body shots from Rodtang. Not doubting him as a fighter but he has bitten off way more than he can chew.”
