At ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24, ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 will take on one of the biggest challenges of his career.

At ONE Fight Night 6 in January, the 27-year-old won the vacant title after defeating Spain’s Daniel Puertas. The fight came together on late notice after former world champion Ilias Ennahachi vacated his world championship.

Puertas was originally scheduled to face ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon on that date. When both Superlek and Rodtang were victorious on the same night, a huge fight was suddenly on the cards.

In his first world title defense, Superlek will try to stop Rodtang from becoming a two-sport titleholder, a task much easier said than done.

In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘The Kicking Machine’ spoke about his excitement to take on the fighter they call ‘The Iron Man’. He said:

“Victory over him will be my lifelong honor. It’s my pride to beat a superstar that everyone wants to fight with. And yes, after I beat him in this fight, I want to challenge Rodtang for ONE flyweight Muay Thai world Ttitle next.”

Superlek has "noticed holes" in Rodtang’s game and is planning a surprise

ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 couldn’t have asked for a tougher test for the first defense of his recently acquired world championship.

At ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24, live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium, ‘The Kicking Machine’ will take on Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

Rodtang has established a dominant run as the flyweight Muay Thai world champion. After picking up a win over China’s Jiduo Yibu under the kickboxing ruleset last time out, he’s looking to add a second world championship to his legacy.

The defending champion believes that he holds some key advantages over ‘The Iron Man’ despite his aura of invincibility inside the circle.

Known for his frightening kicks that hit with the impact of a car crash, Superlek has been studying his opponent and says that he has identified some areas that he can exploit.

In an interview with ONE Championship, the 27-year old said:

"I watched Rodtang’s videos and noticed holes in his game. And I’m practicing this surprise for him. This is as much as I can tell you."

‘The Kicking Machine’ will need to utilize every advantage that he has over his opponent if he is to stop Rodtang from becoming a two-sport world champion.

He continued:

“I believe my kicks are better than his in kickboxing. First, I’m a little taller than him. Second, I think my leg movement is better than his in terms of speed ... I can predict his patterns clearly. Rodtang may hit hard, but he is slower than me. This should be my advantage.”

ONE Fight Night 8 is available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
