Newly crowned ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 can’t wait for ONE Friday Fights 1, which features Nong-O Gaiyanghadao’s bantamweight Muay Thai world title defense against Alaverdi Ramazanov.

The promotion is set to make its debut at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand later today, January 20.

Apart from the mighty Nong-O, former strawweight Muay Thai king Prajanchai PK.Saenchai will also be making his return to the circle. All in all, 10 high-octane Muay Thai bouts featuring some of the best Thai warriors are slated to go down, along with two mixed martial arts fights.

Superlek, a former two-weight Lumpinee world champion, recently talked about the importance of ONE’s debut in Lumpinee to the future of Muay Thai.

He told ONE Championship in an exclusive interview:

“I think this event is very good. It gives an opportunity for a new generation of Thai fighters to join ONE.”

Moreover, ‘The Kicking Machine’ also lauded the world’s largest martial arts organization for taking “The Art of Eight Limbs” to a global stage for the rest of the world to see.

The Kiatmoo9 Gym star furthered that ONE’s unique ruleset complements the essence of Muay Thai’s non-stop striking action:

“Fighting in ONE Championship is completely different from when they fight in Thailand. There is no gambling in ONE. You can’t delay the game to cater to those dealers. In ONE, you need to fight aggressively or you will lose.”

Since joining ONE, Superlek has gone 8-1 in both Muay Thai and kickboxing bouts inside the circle.

He realized his lifelong dream last week when he outclassed Daniel Puertas to claim the vacant ONE flyweight kickboxing throne. ONE, meanwhile, is expected to host at least 52 shows in Lumpinee and 2023.

For sure, Superlek would love to headline one of those cards and fight in front of his hometown fans.

Superlek believes Alaverdi Ramazanov’s size, length advantage won’t be a factor vs. Nong-O

It comes as no surprise whom Superlek is siding with in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 1.

In the same interview with ONE Championship, the 27-year-old Thai predicted that his compatriot Nong-O will successfully defend his world title for the seventh time.

The flyweight kickboxing king admitted that the no.2 ranked Ramazanov poses some threats – particularly with his physical advantages.

Still, there’s no doubt in his mind that Nong-O will continue his unbeaten run inside the circle.

He confidently said:

“Nong-O is a veteran fighter, Alaverdi is tall but he is still no match for him.”
