While Superlek wouldn't classify his spectacularly sneaky elbow strike against Jonathan Haggerty as a secret move, it certainly got the job done.
With two of the greatest strikers in the 'art of eight limbs' scheduled to go toe-to-toe in 'The Mile High City' last month, fight fans expected a knockdown drag-out brawl between 'The Kicking Machine' and Haggerty.
Instead, their clash came to a crashing halt 49 seconds in after Superlek landed a vicious inside elbow that took 'The General' out of the fight before it ever really began.

Looking back on the highlight-reel finish via an interview with Yokkao, Superlek revealed that he had practiced the maneuver quite a bit, and his execution of it at ONE 168: Denver was nothing more than perfect timing:
"I wouldn't consider it a secret move," he said. "It was down to the right timing. And it was something that I practiced and prepared for, and the results of that were seen in the fight."

Jonathan Haggerty believes being too eager is what cost him against Superlek
Offering his own take on the brutal knockout loss, Jonathan Haggerty believes that he was a little too eager to get things going after a long waiting period backstage:
"Like I said before, I felt great," Haggerty told the Sky Sports MMA Club podcast. "In the back room, I think I warmed up a little bit too long. It was dragged out a little bit. I should have relaxed a little bit, but I was very eager to go for this one. I was ready to go, I was eager."
Unfortunately, that overeagerness cost Haggerty the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship. Still, 'The General' maintains his status as a ONE world titleholder, currently laying claim to the ONE bantamweight kickboxing crown.
Perhaps we'll see him defend his 26 pounds of kickboxing gold in the near future. Or maybe he'll look to reclaim the title he surrendered in 'The Centennial State'. Only time will tell.
