Superlek Kiatmoo9 plans on challenging ‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a bid to become a two-sport ONE world champion later this year.

‘The Kicking Machine’ passed his first test after becoming a ONE world champion by successfully defending his ONE flyweight kickboxing world championship in the ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video main event. Superlek scored a third-round knockout against short-notice stand-in Danial Williams.

Originally, he was slated to defend his world title against Rodtang, however ‘The Iron Man’ was forced to withdraw from the contest at the last minute due to an injury sustained during training. ‘The Kicking Machine’ has every intention of rebooking that fight, but this time, instead of it being for Superlek’s ONE world title, he expects Rodtang to put his 26 pounds of gold up for grabs.

In a video clip shared on the promotion’s Instagram account, ‘The Kicking Machine’ made it very clear what he wants for his return to the circle.

“Of course, my next goal is to fight Rodtang for the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title. I want that belt too.”

Before he can get into the circle with Superlek, Rodtang will first need to get past Mexico’s Edgar Tarbares. ‘The Iron Man’ is scheduled to put his ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title on the line against Tabares at ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5 when the promotion makes its long-awaited debut in the United States.

ONE Fight Night 10 will go down at 1stBank Center in Colorado and will be broadcast live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.

Superlek believes his showdown with Rodtang is inevitable despite struggles to make it happen

Superlek Kiatmoo9 is confident that an eventual showdown with Rodtang Jitmuangnon will happen despite struggles to make it happen over the last year.

“I think this fight is pretty much inevitable because we’re both in the same weight division. I’m the champion of kickboxing, Rodtang is the champion of Muay Thai so I think in the near future we’ll have to face each other again.”

Many fans expected the two striking sensations to square off in the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix tournament that kicked off at ONE 157 last year. With both fighters on opposite sides of the bracket, it appeared the stars were finally beginning to align. Unfortunately, the tournament ended without Rodtang in the finals after ‘The Iron Man’ was forced to withdraw just before the semi-final round

'The Kicking Machine' went on to win the tournament, defeating Rodtang’s replacement, Panpayak Jitmuangnon at ONE 164 in December.
