Superlek Kiatmoo9 has nothing against Rodtang Jitmuangnon for pulling out of ONE Fight Night 8.

After becoming the flyweight kickboxing world champion in January, Superlek was supposed to make his first title defense against Rodtang on March 24. Unfortunately, ‘The Iron Man’ was forced to pull out because of an undisclosed injury, leading to Danial Williams stepping in on short notice.

Injuries happen in MMA, but some fans questioned the severity of Rodtang’s injuries because he didn’t cancel his upcoming teaching seminars. During an interview with SCMP MMA, Superlek was asked about ‘The Iron Man’ and responded by saying:

“Since I have already defended this belt in kickboxing, if I can choose I would rather go back and challenge for Rodtang’s Muay Thai belt… No, I don’t have anything against him because he really is injured and the seminars are a separate thing. I know that he’s really, I know that he’s hurt his body, so it’s okay.”

After two intense rounds at ONE Fight Night 8, Superlek found an opening and finished Williams with a vicious third-round knockout. It’s unclear what’s next for the Thai superstar. He could defend the flyweight kickboxing title or look to become a two-sport world champion in a must-see Muay Thai fight against Rodtang.

Superlek Kiatmoo9 expressed gratitude toward Chatri Sityodtong for changing his life

Superlek Kiatmoo9 secured his second $50,000 performance bonus with his statement win against Danial Williams. The 27-year-old’s first bonus came in August 2022, when he defeated Walter Goncalves with a first-round knockout in Muay Thai. During the same interview, Superlek reacted to his performance bonus at ONE Fight Night 8 by saying:

"I am happy, I’m speechless to get this bonus. I would like to thank Mr. Chatri, since I joined ONE my life has been better, my family’s better, so I am determined to do my best in every fight."

Superlek made his promotional debut in February 2019. Since then, the former Lumpinee Stadium champion has maintained an undefeated 6-0 record in Muay Thai. After starting his kickboxing journey with a 1-1 record, the Thai superstar returned in 2023 to secure the vacant flyweight world championship against Daniel Puertas and his first title defense against Williams.
