At ONE Fight Night 8, flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 defended his title for the first time.
‘The Kicking Machine’ was originally scheduled to face flyweight Muay Thai king Rodtang Jitmuangnon at the event, a striking super fight that fans had waited a long-time to see.
Unfortunately, a few days before the event, ONE Championship announced that Rodtang would no longer be able to compete at the event due to an injury he suffered in training.
Whilst Superlek was able to stay on the card thanks to Danial Williams stepping in as a late notice replacement, the champion was determined to give the fans what they want.

Following his win over Williams, the Thai champion spoke about what was next for him in his post-event interviews, alluding to his fight with ‘The Iron Man’ being rescheduled:
“I do not have anyone specific in mind to defend my title. If the next one is Rodtang, who will be challenging me for the belt in kickboxing, I am ready.”
Whilst the flyweight Muay Thai champion was forced to pull out of the event this past weekend, ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong said that he will still be able to compete at ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5 in a defense of his world championship.
Superlek says intense training led to victory over Danial Williams
ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 credits the work that he does in the gym for his performance at ONE Fight Night 8.
After undergoing a change of opponent at late notice, ‘The Kicking Machine’ faced Australian-Thai contender Danial Williams who came into the fight with nothing to lose, replacing Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
Looking to pick up his first world title defense in Singapore, the defending champion showed his class in the fight.
Although Williams did his best to turn the contest into a fight, you wouldn’t have known that Superlek had been training for a different opponent this whole time.
With his legendary kicks, he battered and chopped away at Williams’ legs and body before timing a head kick that sent his opponent crashing to the floor. From that point on, it was only a matter of time before he found the finish.
With a performance that made the fight look easy, the champ said that he owes it all to his pre-fight preparations that made him able to adapt to whatever was thrown at him inside the Circle. In his post-event interview, Superlek said:
“I am happy with my performance because I trained very hard [hard for this fight]. I trained intensely, and also I prepared a lot of my game plan. I had a lot of determination to win against any opponent. I feel good about my performance today.”
