Superlek shares he is repairing his relationship with estranged father

'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9 only met his father for the first time a few years ago. Since then, his father has been able to witness him win the ONE flyweight kickboxing world championship.

Superlek and his father are repairing their relationship after many lost years. In an interview with ONE Championship, the 27-year-old striker explained:

"[My father] said, ‘Congratulations, you have accomplished what you set out to do. I’m happy for you, too.’ He also knew that I had an injury before the fight, and I knew that he was worried about me. He asked me, ‘Are you hurt that much?’"

This was an important moment for the Thai star. He continued:

"That was the first time I heard words full of warmth and love from the person I called father. I only met him a few years ago, but our bond is deepened effortlessly."

'The Kicking Machine' will return to the ONE circle to defend his kickboxing crown against the dangerous Muay Thai striker 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon. The two highly skilled fighters are booked to meet at March 24 headlining ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video.

Superlek and his father

After a lifetime apart from one another, Superlek and his father have only just begun to spend time together in 2022. 'The Kicking Machine' is proud and happy with this connection. In an interview with ONE Championship, he said:

"He cares about me. He is always worried when I get injured from training. Whenever he calls me, he reminds me to be careful of injuries from training."

The 27-year-old striker will look to make his father proud again as he tries to defend his ONE flyweight kickboxing world title at ONE Fight Night 8. However, it will not be an easy task to defeat the current ONE flyweight Muay Thai king Rodtang.

Audiences have long been waiting to see Rodtang and Superlek throw down in the ONE circle. They will finally get their wish on March 24.
