What separates ONE Championship from other organizations? According to newly signed Japanese kickboxing sensation Takeru Segawa, it’s ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong himself.
Sityodtong prides himself on being a lifelong martial artist, having trained in Muay Thai when he was young, and then picking up other disciplines such as boxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu when he got older. To this day, Sityodtong says he continues to train and hone his skills daily, as martial arts has become part of his life.
Hence, Sityodtong can understand exactly what fighters and athletes go through, from the rigorous preparations in training camp, to the trials and tribulations they face inside the cage.
Speaking to the media in a recent press conference in Tokyo to announce he had joined ONE, Takeru praised Sityodtong.

The Japanese fighter said:
“As you can see in this press conference today, he’s a very powerful and passionate person. Sometimes his words are strong but it shows how much he respects fighters and it shows the love for the fighters.”
Takeru has a multitude of viable matchups on his hands when he decides to make his ONE debut. Superfights with newly crowned ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Haggerty and ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion Petchtanong Petchfergus loom on the horizon, but it’s his rivals in the flyweight division that has fans salivating.
An impending showdown with ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion ‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon is all but imminent, as well as a date with ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9.
Needless to say, Takeru has found a home in ONE Championship and fans are in for a treat.
