Filipino-American striking wizard Jackie Buntan is coming off the biggest victory of her career by winning the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world championship over the legendary Anissa Meksen in November. Now, she is enjoying the fruits of her labor heading into the new year.
During a sit-down interview with The Casuals posted on YouTube, Buntan said:
"I just have so much downtime, just hanging out with friends and family, literally taking way too many naps. The jet lag has been bad. I feel like it usually lasts a week, but it lasted, like, two weeks this time. Oh, but yeah, I'm here now. Can't complain."

It is a well-deserved break for the Boxing Works product after getting into a highly tactical and grueling five-round battle with 'C18' at ONE 169 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Eager to establish her groove early on, Buntan leaned on her ring generalship to land her quick combos, which left Meksen struggling to find any momentum.
Buntan, with her longtime coach and Boxing Works owner Brian Popejoy constantly tweaking the strategy between rounds, eventually cruised to the unanimous decision victory.
Jackie Buntan plans to compete in both Muay Thai and kickboxing in 2025
Jackie Buntan understands the responsibilities of becoming the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world champion, but she also wants to ply her craft as a Muay Thai fighter.
In a recent interview with Combat Sports Today, Buntan declared:
"The goal is to go for both. I'll obviously keep defending the kickboxing belt, but also go back and challenge for the Muay Thai belt. So the plan next year is to be active and do both disciplines, kickboxing and Muay Thai."
