Tammi Musumeci says her way of learning is vastly different than that of her ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion brother, Mikey Musumeci.

Following in the footsteps of her younger brother, Tammi Musumeci will make her promotional debut this Friday night at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video. Kicking off the card, the multi-time IBJJF world champion will meet 101-win BJJ veteran Bianca Basilio. Before stepping into the Circle, Musumeci spoke with ONE Championship to share some insight into training alongside her younger brother and their very different ways of learning:

“I learned from him,” Musumeci said. “I feel like we learn differently. I like to do stuff naturally, with more movement. I don't learn as well, like, if let's say I go to a seminar. I don't learn as well. I kind of don't pick up anything. I learn more by trying to do movements.”

Tammi Musumeci’s younger brother has been nothing short of spectacular since signing with the promotion in 2022.

Immediately making a name for himself with an impressive submission of grappling legend Masakazu Imanari, ‘Darth Rigatoni’ made history as the promotion’s first-ever submission grappling world champion, besting Cleber Sousa via unanimous decision in a highly entertaining match at ONE on Prime Video 2 in October.

‘Darth Rigatoni’ further established his dominance under the ONE Championship banner with a dominant performance against Gantumur Bayanduuren in January to retain his title.

Tammi Musumeci admits training with Mikey Musumeci got intense at times

Tammi and Mikey Musumeci have carved out a legacy for themselves as two of the most successful grapplers in American history. While both are on decidedly different career paths as Tammi continues to focus on her career as a lawyer, she admitted that their success is in large part to training alongside one another in sessions that can get pretty intense at times:

“I was in school. If I remember, we'd go to school, and then we [would] train. Some nights, we trained either at our gym or we trained at Marcelo Ribeiro. Then we started training under Emyr ‘Shark’ Bussade in Florida at American Top Team."

She added:

“So we trained on some nights there, and then we drilled at home. So he'd show me all the cool stuff he was working on like Berimbolo, 50-50, all those cool things. So it'd be like all those years, it was a lot of drilling with us. We drill a ton. Intense drilling as well.”

Amazon Prime Video subscribers can catch Tammi Musumeci’s ONE Championship debut live and for free this Friday night in U.S. primetime.
