Tammi Musumeci says she’s a ‘knock-off’ version of brother Mikey Musumeci

At ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24, Tammi Musumeci will introduce herself to ONE Championship fans when she steps inside the Circle for the first time.

Whilst they may not be aware of her skills just yet, ONE fans will be familiar with the style and accomplishments of her younger brother Mikey Musumeci.

As the holder of the ONE flyweight submission grappling world championship, ‘Darth Rigatoni’ has displayed his creative approach to jiu-jitsu several times inside the Circle.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Tammi was asked to explain her style. She made reference to the similarities between her style and her sibling’s, making fun of how close the two things are:

“I feel I'm like Mikey. I like to joke around and say I'm a knock-off version of him. He gets mad when I say that. I'm like Mikey, I feel. I'm trying to be like Mikey. I feel like I also have some pressure on top, which is a little different. I do some little things differently than him, I think, because we're different body types. But I feel like a lot of the times. It's more similar to his style.”

Tammi Musumeci admits she doesn’t want to pursue a full-time jiu-jitsu career

Despite everything she has been able to accomplish in submission grappling, Tammi Musumeci is still not looking to train or compete full-time.

Whilst her younger brother Mikey Musumeci has shown the benefits of making jiu-jitsu his one and only focus, Tammi doesn’t want to solely commit to competition.

Happy with keeping jiu-jitsu as her hobby when she gets downtime, Tammi works as a qualified attorney and has goals that she wants to accomplish away from the mats.

Ahead of her ONE Championship debut where she will join her brother Mikey on ONE’s submission grappling roster, Tammi Musumeci said in an interview with the promotion:

“I could never train full-time, even if I had the option,” Musumeci revealed. “I would just never do it. I also have goals outside of jiu-jitsu in my professional life that I want to reach. I just don’t ever put that as an option for myself to do.”

Despite the fact that it is only a part-time for her, you cannot underestimate the grappling skills that she possesses. As she takes on Bianca Basilio at ONE Fight Night 8, ONE Championship fans can expect an incredibly high-level contest.
