American submission grappler Tammi Musumeci shares her passion for jiu-jitsu with her brother Mikey Musumeci but believes they are different beasts, especially with how they approach competing.

Tammi Musumeci will make her ONE Championship debut on March 24 at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The 28-year-old grappler will take on fellow Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Bianca Basilio in a strawweight submission grappling contest.

By competing in ONE, Tammi joins her younger sibling Mikey Musumeci, 26, who is the promotion’s reigning flyweight submission grappling world champion.

Speaking to the promotion in the lead-up to her debut, Tammi Musumeci shared, among other things, how she and her brother approach competing in jiu-jitsu and how they differ in that respect:

“When I compete, I'm not like that good. I mean, I'm not that good with the rules. I'm just not that focused with the rules. I feel like he's very good with the rules. So like me, I'm better with just submission-only because I feel like I'm always going for the sub.”

Tammi continued:

“I feel like he's really good with those two, because he also has a great leglock game which I'm trying to get good at as well.”

Prior to joining ONE Championship, Tammi was a decorated jiu-jitsu athlete representing the United States. Among her accomplishments are winning the gold medal at the 2019 IBJJF World Championship and the 2022 IBJJF No-Gi world title. Outside of competition, she is an attorney.

For her promotional debut, she is up against Basilio, who is also an IBJJF world champion coming off a submission victory in her maiden ONE outing back in November 2022.

All ONE Fight Night events are broadcast live and for free to North American fans with an active Prime Video subscription.

Tammi Musumeci wins 2022 IBJJF No Gi world title

American submission grappling ace Tammi Musumeci is set to make her ONE Championship debut later this week, but before signing with the promotion, she added a fourth IBJJF no-gi world title to her mantle.

Her brother Mikey Musumeci, the reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion, broke the news late last year on Instagram.

Mikey Musumeci posted a photo of himself and his lawyer-sister, and captioned it with:

“TAMMI NOW 5X BLACK BELT WORLD CHAMPION! My sister did it and is now the 2022 NOGI BLACK BELT WORLD CHAMPION. 😭❤️ Tammi works 5 days a week as a lawyer, and on her weekend off we drove to Cali, where she won her 5th world title in black belt. I’m so proud of her for her performance today, but also for the person she is. #proudbrother”

In winning the no-gi finals of the 2022 IBJJF World Championship, which took place from December 8 to 11, Tammi defeated Jasmine Rocha via submission with a rear-naked choke.

Tammi Musumeci is now gearing up to showcase her talent to an even wider audience at ONE Championship, making her debut on March 24 against Brazilian Bianca Basilio. Their showdown is part of ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video in Singapore.

The event is headlined by the title showdown between ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Thai-Australian challenger Danial Williams.
