Tawanchai PK.Saenchai is locked in for his first featherweight Muay Thai world title defense.

On February 24, Tawanchai will look to continue his impressive run at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video. The 23-year-old became the featherweight Muay Thai king last time out, with an impressive win against Petchmorakot Petchyindee by unanimous decision. Five months later, he is set to defend his belt against Jamal Yusupov, who currently holds a promotional record of 3-0.

Tawanchai credits becoming the featherweight world champion to continuing to work hard and staying focused. He seems to be keeping that mentality during his preparations for ONE Fight Night 7. The 23-year-old posted an Instagram video of him looking shredded while working on his strength, with the caption saying:

“Monday let’s go!👊🏻💥#OntrackGym”

Tawanchai would be smart not to overlook Yusupov. Despite being 39 years old, the Turkish fighter made a statement with a unanimous decision win against Jo Nattawut in July 2022. The featherweight Muay Thai world title fight will go down on February 24, which can be seen live and for free by North American Amazon Prime Video subscribers.

Looking back on Tawanchai PK.Saenchai’s ONE Championship tenure thus far

Tawanchai PK.Saenchai joined ONE Championship in 2020, holding a lifetime record of 124-30-2. He competed in his promotional debut in May 2021, making a statement by defeating Sean Clancy with a third-round finish. The 23-year-old returned three months later, losing a split decision against Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong.

The Thai star went back to the drawing board and didn’t fight again for four months. He returned against Saemapetch Fairtex, putting the division on notice with a first-round finish. Tawanchai secured one more win before earning a world title shot against Petchmorakot Petchyindee at ONE 161.

Although Tawanchai is highly respected, Petchmorakot was on a six-fight unbeaten streak in Muay Thai, making the PK.Saenchai fighter an underdog. The 23-year-old stayed focused and solidified his legacy in ONE by defeating the former world champion.

Tawanchai was awarded the 2022 ONE Championship Muay Thai Fighter of the Year and Breakout Star of the Year for his wins against Saemapetch, Niclas Larsen, and Petchmorakot. The Thai superstar is now looking to continue his success by taking out Jamal Yusupov at ONE Fight Night 7.
